Play the Wend game free with three daily word paths

Wend Unlimited is a free browser word-path game where you connect neighboring letters to uncover themed words. A path may bend many times, but each step moves only up, down, left or right. The board is solved when every open letter belongs to one accepted path and no two answers overlap.

Each Daily Edition contains an Easy 5×5, Medium 6×6 and Hard 7×7 puzzle, so you can learn the pattern on a compact board before tackling a longer route. Finish all three levels to complete the edition and bank the day in your locally saved streak. No account, download or sign-in is required.

What is the Wend game?

Wend is a word-finding format that combines vocabulary with spatial logic. Instead of scanning for straight words in a conventional word search, you weave through adjacent cells and judge every candidate by the space it leaves behind. Knowing a likely answer is only half the solve: its route must also fit the walls, preserve room for every other answer and cover the board exactly.

The official LinkedIn Wend game releases one puzzle each day. Wend Unlimited is an independent game with original boards, its own three-level Daily Edition, Unlimited practice and a replayable Archive; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by LinkedIn. The shared idea is a grid of winding word paths, while the boards, clues, answer sets, progression and saved play on this site are Wend Unlimited originals.

Wend game rules at a glance

  1. Read the theme clue and the answer lengths before tracing.
  2. Drag through letters that share a horizontal or vertical edge.
  3. Do not jump diagonally, cross a blocked wall or reuse a cell in one path.
  4. Trace the authored route forward or backward; both directions use the same cells.
  5. Cover every open letter exactly once across all accepted answers.

A real word can still be wrong if it uses a different route, steals a cell needed by another answer or leaves an isolated letter. That whole-board constraint is what turns a Wend game from a vocabulary hunt into a logic puzzle.

Answer lengths are fixed, so a four-letter slot cannot accept a five-letter candidate even when the theme fits. Colored walls also matter: two letters that look close may belong to different areas of the board. Before releasing a trace, check its length, adjacency and effect on the unclaimed cells. A valid final solution satisfies all three at once.

How to play today’s Daily Edition

Start with the answer lengths and the least flexible cells: corners, narrow passages and letters beside walls. Press or drag from a starting letter, continue through orthogonally adjacent cells, then release to submit. A correct path fills its answer slot and claims those cells. An incorrect path stays visible so you can inspect it before using Undo or redrawing.

Hint first clears an incorrect active trace; another hint reveals the next correct letter of an unsolved answer. Reset returns only the current puzzle to its starting state. Your active level, solved paths, timer, hints and redraws are saved in this browser, so a refresh does not discard the run.

  1. Scan before drawing. Compare the clue with every listed answer length and note letters that have only one or two possible exits.
  2. Trace one complete candidate. Keep the pointer on edge-sharing cells and release only when the path reaches the required length.
  3. Read the result. Leave a correct path in place. If the trace is wrong, inspect the pocket or bridge it creates before undoing it.
  4. Finish the whole grid. Repeat until every answer slot is filled and every open cell is covered exactly once.

You can play with a mouse, trackpad or touch screen. Keyboard focus and game controls are also available, and the puzzle status remains readable without relying on color alone. The timer records your solving time, while hints and redraws are shown separately so the completed result reflects how the run actually went.

Daily, Unlimited and Archive serve different goals

Daily is the three-puzzle challenge that advances your streak. Start here when you want one shared edition with a clear finish for the day. Completing only Easy or Medium saves that level, but the Daily Edition counts as complete after all three difficulty levels are solved.

Wend Unlimited offers 300 separate practice puzzles across three difficulty banks and never changes the Daily result. Use it to repeat a comfortable board size, learn how longer paths behave or keep playing after today’s set. The Wend game Archive lists published editions by number and shows each publication date, with replay progress isolated from both Daily and Unlimited. Replaying an old edition cannot extend or overwrite the current Daily streak.

A practical first solving method

List the remaining answer lengths, then test the longest or most constrained route. Before submitting, count the cells left in each connected area. If a five-letter answer would leave a two-cell pocket, or two candidate words both require the same bridge cell, reject that route and try the other endpoint. This residue check is more reliable than guessing every word from the clue alone.

Next, compare each possible route with the shapes still available. Corners often force a turn, a one-cell corridor can determine which word must pass through it, and a wall may make one spelling possible in only one direction. Work from forced geometry toward flexible open space. When two routes still seem plausible, keep both in mind and solve a different answer that removes the ambiguity.

Do not treat a plausible themed word as proof. The strongest confirmation is structural: the path has the required length, uses legal moves and leaves the remaining cells divisible into the lengths still shown. Near the end, every unused letter should connect to one of those remaining routes without sharing a claimed cell. If that arithmetic fails, back up to the earliest uncertain path instead of redrawing everything.

The Wend Unlimited strategy guide develops this method with exact board diagrams for answer lengths, endpoints, walls, chokepoints and full coverage.

Wend game questions

Is Wend Unlimited the LinkedIn Wend game?

No. LinkedIn Wend is LinkedIn’s official daily puzzle. Wend Unlimited is an independent, original implementation of the broader word-path format and adds three-level Daily play, Unlimited practice and a numbered Archive.

Can Wend paths turn or go backward?

Yes. Paths may turn at any cell and the same accepted route can be traced from either endpoint. Diagonal movement is never allowed.

Does every letter have to be used?

Every open letter must belong to exactly one accepted answer. Blocked wall cells are outside the puzzle and are never traced.

What happens when a path is wrong?

The trace remains visible rather than disappearing immediately. That gives you time to compare its shape with the answer length and the space left on the board. Use Undo, start a replacement trace or ask for a Hint when you are ready.

Is the Wend game free to play?

Yes. The Daily Edition, Wend Unlimited and published Archive replays are free in the browser. There is no account wall, app installation or paid hint system in this release.

Will Daily, Unlimited and Archive progress mix together?

No. Each mode saves its own run. Unlimited practice cannot alter a Daily result, and an Archive replay cannot increase the current streak. This keeps the daily challenge meaningful while letting you practice or revisit old editions freely.

Do I need an account?

No. Wend Unlimited works without an account. Current progress and streak data stay in local storage in this browser, with no cloud sync in this release.
